And there is a little music I like thats reasonably current...Not everything in my playlist is 30-40 yrs old Laughing

And the True Name of The Song Is:

One Last Breath

Please come now I think I'm falling
I'm holding on to all I think is safe
It seems I found the road to nowhere
And I'm trying to escape
I yelled back when I heard thunder
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it let me say
Let me say

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
maybe six feet
Ain't so far down

I'm looking down now that it's over
Reflecting on all of my mistakes
I thought I found the road to somewhere
Somewhere in His grace
I cried out 'Heaven save me'
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it let me say
Let me say

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
maybe six feet
Ain't so far down

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
maybe six feet
Ain't so far down

Sad eyes follow me
But I still believe there's something left for me
So please come stay with me
Cause I still believe there's something left for you and me
For you and me
For you and me

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
maybe six feet
Ain't so far down

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
maybe six feet
Ain't so far down

Please come now I think I'm falling
I'm holding on to all I think is safe

It all started when five hard-rockin’ kids from the San Francisco Bay Area joined forces in the early 80s to form Night Ranger. Like no other 80s rock band, Night Ranger both epitomized and transcended the sound and style of that decade.

Early on, their sing-along rock songs and good looks packed clubs and theaters drawing the attention of legendary promoter Bill Graham. Soon Night Ranger was appearing in concert with major artists but it wouldn’t be long before they were headlining their own ARENA shows. Night Ranger’s debut album Dawn Patrol hit the charts hard, going instantly Top 40 with the, now anthemic single, “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”.

Night Ranger left an indelible mark with a string of best-selling albums that sold more than 16 million copies worldwide. The band’s popularity was fuelled by an impressive string of instantly recognizable hit singles and signature album tracks, including “Sister Christian,” “(You Can Still) Rock In America,” “When You Close Your Eyes,” “Sentimental Street,” “Goodbye” and the afore mentioned “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me.” Harnessing the frenetic drive of heavy metal to hook-laden rock songs, throwing in a stunning twin lead guitar team, and melodious, radio-friendly power ballads, Night Ranger inspired new descriptive phrases such as “melodic metal” and “metal power pop”. They became the standard-bearer of a new sound.

Then, following a seven-year absence, Night Ranger reunited in 1996 for a tour of Japan and a summer US tour. Fans proved that they still loved the music and the band. In 1997, the three-time Oscar-nominated film Boogie Nights spotlighted “Sister Christian” as one of the songs that defined the previous decade. Also that year, the band released Neverland, and the following year, Seven, studio albums that set the standard for the 80s rock revival. Nearly every summer since, Night Ranger has toured across the country, sharing stages with such acts as REO Speedwagon, Styx, Journey, Bad Company, Pat Benatar, Loverboy, Poison, Cinderella, Boston, Heart, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick, and Kansas.

In 2000, responding to the astonishing success of their continual touring, MCA Records released The Best Of Night Ranger, a digitally remastered compilation. In 2004, acknowledging the band’s enormous popularity in the first decade of the music video, MCA issued The Best Of Night Ranger/The DVD Collection, featuring five of the band’s best-known videos. In 2005 the album titled Hit’s Acoustic and Rarities was released on IROCK Records thru Universal. 2007 proved to be another busy year for Night Ranger with a Sony/BMG release of a Live Japan record and a new studio album, Hole In The Sun released in Europe, Japan and the US.

The bright lights and rock ‘n’ roll nights never end for Night Ranger. You can still Rock in America!

One of the good 80's bands, that got quite a bit of airplay and money, but from the critics, not a lot of respect.
Night Ranger, performing

Sentimental Street

Saw you walkin' out on Sentimental Street
What'cha doin' out there
Who you tryin' to be
I know what you're thinking
'Cause I've been there myself
I've been kicked so many times
I don't know nothin' else
Still I noticed your urgency
And recognized the flair
That ya got from chasin'
All those east coast dares
And I've seen it before
It happens time and again
All cut up inside
Yet you're caught in a spin

Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Take a good hard look
There ain't nothin' ever new
Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Will you ever find out
Guess I'll leave it up to you

Saw you dancin' out at Madame Wong Two's
You did the same two steps
That I taught you back in June
Heard you dined last night
At Conte Razor's Cafe
Did you get your fill
Did you think you had to pay
Still I noticed your urgency
And recognized the pain
And I'm sure it's the same
You feel again and again
And I wish I could get us
That second chance
But you're having too much fun
With your sudden romance

Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Take a good hard look
There ain't nothin' ever new
Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Will you ever find us
Guess I'll leave it up to you

Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Take a good hard look
There ain't nothin' ever new
Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Will you ever find us
Guess I'll leave it up to you

Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Oh' take a good hard look
There ain't nothin' ever new
Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Will you ever find us
Guess I'll leave it up to you
Saw you walking out on Sentimental Street
What'cha doin' out there
Who you tryin' to be
Out on Sentimental Street in the Avenues
Will you ever find us
Guess I'll leave it up to you

When you Close Your Eyes

What do you do
When it's falling apart
And you knew it was gone
From the very start
Do you close your eyes
And dream about me

A girl in love
With a gleam in your eye
I was a younger boy
All dressed in white
We're older now
I bet you still think about me

I remember
We learned about love
In the back of a Chevrolet
Well it felt so good to be young
It feels like yesterday

When you close your eyes, do you dream (dream) about me
When you close your eyes, do you dream about me?
Do you still dream about me?

I guess I don't know
What I'm thinking
Coming off a hard night of drinking
Angie, come closer to me
I need a soul to bleed on

It could’a been done
In a different kinda way
But that ain't you
You play tough when you play
It's over now
I bet you still think about me

I remember
I held you so tight
And we danced the night away
With the moves
Of two wide eyed kids
I need you so much today

When you close your eyes, do you dream (dream) about me?
When you close your eyes, do you dream about me?
When you close your eyes, do you dream about me?
When you close your eyes, do you dream (dream) about me?

I remember
We learned about love
In the back of a Chevrolet
No good for an old memory
To mean so much today

When you close your eyes, do you dream (dream) about me?
When you close your eyes, do you dream about me?
When you close your eyes, do you dream (dream) about me?
When you go to sleep at night, do you dream about me?

When you close your eyes, do you dream about me?
When you close your big brown eyes, do you dream about me?

The main group credited with creating/popularizing synth/pop, back in the early 80's, was The Human League.
I won't bore ya with a long write up, you can hit This Link if you are interested in reading their history.

A couple of good ones:

I'm Only Human

Come on, baby, dry your eyes
Wipe your tears
Never like to see you cry
Won't you please forgive me ?

I wouldn't ever try to hurt you
I just needed someone to hold me
To fill the void while you were gone
To fill this space of emptiness

I'm only human
Of flesh and blood I'm made
Human
Born to make mistakes

So many nights I longed to hold you
So many times I looked and saw your face
Nothing could change the way I feel
No-one else could ever take your place

I'm only human
Of flesh and blood I'm made
Human
Born to make mistakes

I am just a man

Please forgive me

The tears I cry aren't tears of pain
They're only to hide my guilt and shame
I forgive you now I ask the same of you
While we were apart I was human too

I'm only human
Of flesh and blood I'm made
I am just a man
Human
Born to make mistakes

and...

Don't you Want Me?

You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
When I met you
I picked you out, I shook you up
And turned you around
Turned you into someone new
Now five years later on you've got the world at your feet
Success has been so easy for you
But don't forget it's me who put you where you are now
And I can put you back down too.

Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me

It's much too late to find
When you think you've changed your mind
You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry

Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
That much is true
But even then I knew I'd find a much better place
Either with or without you
The five years we have had have been such good at times
I still love you
But now I think it's time I lived my life on my own
I guess it's just what I must do

Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me

It's much too late find
When you think you've changed your mind
You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry

Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!

(REPEAT x3)
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!

Now then, I ahve to say, I remember the times and all that, but geeeez, in the words of a great rock group, Dude Looks Like a Lady!!! LOL

Okay, had to get that out of my system Razz

Ann and Nancy Wilson.
The heart of the group, Heart. Very Happy
A few oldies, a few later songs, I have a recent dvd of them, and they have aged, Ann has gained some weight (havent we all Razz) But the talent, and the pipes are still there, they are still great!
In case ya can't tell, Im the #1 fan Embarassed Wink
One funny anecdote, I was watching an interview one day with Nancy Wilson, and they asked her if Heart had any plans to do another album and tour...to which she replied "If you can get Ann to lose about 40 pounds, we can just tour and have fun and make another million and forget the album hassles!"
Cool

Crazy on You

If we still have time... we might still get by
Every time I think about it, I wanna cry
With bombs and the devil...
and the kids keep comin'
No way to breathe easy, no time to be young....

But I tell myself that I'm doin' all right
There's nothin' left to do at night....
But go crazy on you..... crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you... oh...

My love is the evening breeze, touchin' your skin
The gentle, sweet singin' of leaves in the wind
The whisper that calls after you in the night
And kisses your ear in the early light...

And you don't need to wonder, you're doin' fine...
And my love, the pleasure's mine...
Let me go crazy on you.... crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you.... oh.....

Wild man's world is cryin' in pain
Whatcha' gonna do whan everybody's insane
So afraid of one who's so afraid of you
What you gonna do...? Ohhh...

(Ah.......)

Ooooo... Crazy on you... crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you...... oh....

I was a willow last night in a dream
I bent down over a clear running stream
I sang you the song that I heard up above
And you kept me alive
with your sweet flowing love

Crazy... yeah, crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you... oh...

Crazy on you, crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you... yeah!

(solo)

Crazy on you, crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you... oh...

These Dreams

Spare a little candle
save some light for me.
Figures up ahead
moving in the trees.
White skin in linen
perfume on my wrist.
And the full moon that hangs over these dreams in the mist.

These dreams go on when I close my eyes

Every second of the night I live another life.
These dreams that sleep when it's cold outside

Every moment I'm awake
the further I'm away.

Is it cloak-and-dagger
could it be spring or fall?
I walk without a cut through a stained glass wall.
Weaker in my eyeside
the candle in my grip

And words that have no form are falling from my lips.

These dreams go on when I close my eyes
. . .

There's something out there I can't resist.
I need to hide away from the pain -
There's something out there I can't resist.

The sweetest song is silence that I've ever heard.
Funny
how your feet in dreams never touch the earth.
In a wood full of princes freedom is a kiss

But the prince hides his face from dreams in the mist.

These dreams go on when I close my eyes
. . .
These dreams go on when I close my eyes
. . .

Alone

I hear the ticking of the clock
I'm lying here the room's pitch dark
I wonder where you are tonight
No answer on the telephone
And the night goes by so very slow
Oh I hope that it won't end though
Alone
Till now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
You don't know how long I have wanted
to touch your lips and hold you tight, oh
You don't know how long I have waited
and I was going to tell you tonight
But the secret is still my own
and my love for you is still unknown
Alone
Till now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
Alone, alone

The Final song of the Day Thread (sometime) - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final song of the Day Thread (sometime)

Post  Uriah Heep Tue May 12, 2009 2:04 pm

And just so yall know I'm not totally rock and roll, or heavy metal, or whatever the PC term is nowdays, one of the favs from the past.
I won't bore you hear with a long writeup about this, you can all go to Wiki and look it up, read about it, and use the links at the bottom of their page for more info.
But I will bore ya with some backstory Razz
Years ago, I worked at the State Hospital in Rusk Texas, as a property clerk (glorified mover and accounting assistant). We were cleaning out a store room one day, from the patient library, old mags and books and stuff they were discarding to make more storage room for patient records. I noticed several boxes that had nothing but National Geographics in them. LOADS of them, enough to make my back hurt for days as I loaded em in my van Wink
I got em home, and started looking thru them, loving the ones that talked about space travel and how we would go to the moon, how they figured it would/could be done (keep in mind the moon journey was old history by this time, the magazine articles and science info in these 60's journals, compared to the reality of what it really was, was just interesting!!)
Stumbled upon one from the late 50's, cover title was something along the lines of "The Super Ships of the Great Lakes" and inside there were pictures of the Edmund Fitz during that time! Wow, I was intrigued and read the whole thing Shocked

Found another one, from the 80's I think it was, (these are all in storage at the moment, I can't go look at em right now LOL) that covered the expedition to recover the ship's bell. It had color photos, awesomely clear and clean. Reading the article, I learned taht the water in Lake Superior is so cold, that things rust super slowly, and bacteria growth is almost nil. The article was very tasteful, I respected the writers and the researchers, because they showed nothing of corpses and gruesome details that most thrill seekers would thrive on. In fact, in the article, they said there were corpses found aboard ship with the remote diving vehicle that was doing the filming (unmanned rover type) and that they were clear and lifelike bodies still, due to being preserved/mummified by the constant coldness of the water. No photos of them were ever released, to maintain the dignity of the sailors. And none were recovered, but left to rest where they were.

Oh, and one thing wrong in the song, it was not bigger than most...until 1971 it was *the* biggest Neutral

Anyway, enough rambling from an easily amused old man, I present to you:

The Edmund Fitzgerald

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big lake they called "Gitche Gumee."
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
when the skies of November turn gloomy.
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty,
that good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
when the "Gales of November" came early.

The ship was the pride of the American side
coming back from some mill in Wisconsin.
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
with a crew and good captain well seasoned,
concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
when they left fully loaded for Cleveland.
And later that night when the ship's bell rang,
could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?

The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
and a wave broke over the railing.
And ev'ry man knew, as the captain did too
'twas the witch of November come stealin'.
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
when the Gales of November came slashin'.
When afternoon came it was freezin' rain
in the face of a hurricane west wind.

When suppertime came the old cook came on deck sayin'.
"Fellas, it's too rough t'feed ya."
At seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in; he said,
"Fellas, it's bin good t'know ya!"
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
and the good ship and crew was in peril.
And later that night when 'is lights went outta sight
came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Does any one know where the love of God goes
when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
if they'd put fifteen more miles behind 'er.
They might have split up or they might have capsized;
they may have broke deep and took water.
And all that remains is the faces and the names
of the wives and the sons and the daughters.

Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
in the rooms of her ice-water mansion.
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams;
the islands and bays are for sportsmen.
And farther below Lake Ontario
takes in what Lake Erie can send her,
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
with the Gales of November remembered.

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
in the "Maritime Sailors' Cathedral."
The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times
for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big lake they call "Gitche Gumee."
"Superior," they said, "never gives up her dead
when the gales of November come early!"

last year sometime had a note from Bet:

"Mom, great song! The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald!"

now I know, as a kid, she must have heard that song hundreds of times.. country, folk, R&B.. that's about all that played in the house, but when I read that note I read it as an enthusiastic discovery for her

The Final song of the Day Thread (sometime) - Page 3 Empty For Deb

Post  Uriah Heep Wed May 13, 2009 2:36 pm

Here's the one you're talking about. One night stand yes, but the third verse has the rhyme and reason for it.
A good tune, and a tasteful video.

All I want to do...

It was a rainy night when he came into sight
Standing by the road, no umbrella, no coat
So I pulled up along side and I offered him a ride
He accepted with a smile so we drove for a while
I didn't ask him his name, this lonely boy in the rain
Fate tell me it's right, is this love at first sight
Please don't make it wrong, just stay for the night

All I wanna do is make love to you
Say you will you want me too
All I wanna do is make love to you
I've got lovin' arms to hold on to

So we found this hotel, it was a place I knew well
We made magic that night. Oh, he did everything right
He brought the woman out of me, so many times, easily
And in the morning when he woke all I left him was a note
I told him I am the flower you are the seed
We walked in the garden we planted a tree
Don't try to find me, please don't you dare
Just live in my memory, you'll always be there

All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew
All I wanna do is make love to you
I've got lovin' arms to hold on to

Oh, oooh, we made love
Love like strangers
All night long
We made love

Then it happened one day, we came round the same way
You can imagine his surprise when he saw his own eyes
I said please, please understand
I'm in love with another man
And what he couldn't give me
Ohh, oh, oh was the one little thing that you can

All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew
All I want to do is make love to you
Come on, say you will, you want me too

All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew
All I want to do is make love to you
Say you will baby, you want me too

All night long ...

All I wanna do
All I wanna do
All I wanna do
All I wanna do

All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew.

Y'all gonna think I fell and hit my head or something, (again!) but altho I call myself a classic rocker, there were some 80's groups that I thought were fantastic. I'm just gonna give ya the link to their official website at the end of this, you can go read it as easy as I can cut and paste it Wink
One of my other favorite ladies bands...(and they are currently back together :p)

Manic Monday

Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' Valentino
By a crystal blue Italian stream

But I can't be late
'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday

Have to catch an early train
Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an air-o-plane
I still couldn't make it on time

'Cause it takes me so long
Just to figure out what I'm gonna wear
Blame it on the train
But the boss is already there

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday

All of the nights
Why did my lover have to pick last night
To get down
Doesn't it matter
That I have to feed the both of us
Employment's down

He tells me in his bedroom voice
C'mon honey, let's go make some noise
Time it goes so fast
When you're having fun

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
It's just another manic Monday

Walk Like an Egyptian
All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don't you know
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They're falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the Nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

The blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around and they cross the floor
They've got the moves (oh whey oh)
You drop your drink then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (oh whey oh)
They're walking like an Egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Slide your feet up the street bend your back
Shift your arm then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh whey oh)
So strike a pose on a Cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They're hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (oh whey oh)
Spin the clubs cruise down the block

All the Japanese with their yen
The party boys call the Kremlin
And the Chinese know (oh whey oh)
They walk the line like Egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian
Walk like an Egyptian

For teh country fans, here ya go!! Very Happy

Mama's Hungry Eyes

A canvas covered cabin in a crowded labour camp
Stand out in this memory I revived;
Cause my daddy raised a family there, with two hard working hands
And tried to feed my mama's hungry eyes.

He dreamed of something better, and my mama's faith was strong
And us kids were just to young to realize
That another class of people put us somewhere just below;
One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes.

Mama never had the luxuries she wanted
But it wasn't cause my daddy didn't try.
She only wanted things she really needed;
One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes.

I remember daddy praying for a better way of life
But I don't recall a change of any size;
Just a little loss of courage, as their age began to show
And more sadness in my mama's hungry eyes.

Mama never had the luxuries she wanted
But it wasn't cause my daddy didn't try.
She only wanted things she really needed;
One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes.

Oh, I still recall my mama's hungry eyes.

No big write-up today either, just a wiki link that seems to be pretty accurate in my feeble recollection Laughing

Simon and Garfunkel

And a few links to tunes!

Wow, do these really take me back...

The Sounds of Silence

Scarborough Fair

Bridge over Troubled Water

The Final song of the Day Thread (sometime) - Page 3 Empty this was just too good not to post...especially the first

I know I've posted this one before, but this video is just awesome to me! And you won't see the band at all :p

Cool Change

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
There's lots of those friendly people
Showin me ways to go
And I never want to lose your inspiration

Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so pre-arranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change

Well I was born in the sign of water
And it's there that I feel my best
The albatross and the whales
they are my brothers
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Starin' at the full moon
like a lover

Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so prearranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change

Well I've never been romantic
And sometimes I don't care
I know it may sound selfish
But let me breathe the air

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Staring at the full moon like a lover

Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life is so prearranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Cool Change

And perhaps a few more for good measure...

Reflect back on this (pun intended)

Friday night,it was late ,i was walking you home
We got down to the gate and i was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right
How to tell you girl
I wanna build my world around you
Tell you that it's true
I wanna make you understand i'm talkin' about a lifetime plan

That's the way it began, we were hand on hand
Glenn Miller's Band was better than before
We yelled and screamed for more
And the Porter Tunes(Night and Day)
Made us dance across the room
It ended all too soon
And on the way home i promised you'd never be alone

Hurry, don't be late, i can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park and reminiscing

(Instrumental Break)

Friday night, it was late, i was walking you home
We got down to the gate and i was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right
Now as the years roll on
Each time we hear our favourtie song
The memories come along
Older times we're missing
Spending the hours reminiscing

Hurry, don't be late, i can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park and reminiscing

Lonesome Loser

Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Beaten by the queen of hearts every time
Have you heard about the lonesome loser
He's a loser, but he still keeps on tryin'

Oohoohooh .... oooh ....

Sit down, take a look at yourself
Don't you want to be somebody
Someday somebody's gonna see inside
You have to face up, you can't run and hide

Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Beaten by the queen of hearts every time
Have you heard about the lonesome loser
He's a loser, but he still keeps on tryin'

Unlucky in love, least that's what they say
He lost his head and he gambled his heart away
He still keeps searching though there's nothing left
Staked his heart and lost, now he has to pay the cost.

Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Beaten by the queen of hearts every time
Have you heard about the lonesome loser
He's a loser, but he still keeps on tryin'

"It's okay", he smiles and says
Though this loneliness is driving him crazy,
He don't show what goes on in his head,
but if you watch very close you'll see it all

(Instrumental)

Sit down, take a look at yourself
Don't you want to be somebody
Someday somebody's gonna see inside
You have to face up, you can't run and hide

Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Beaten by the queen of hearts every time
Have you heard about the lonesome loser
He's a loser, but he still keeps on tryin'

Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Have you heard about the lonesome loser
Now tell me have you heard about the lonesome loser

All good, but that first one blew me away Razz

dancing songs always make me hear this one in my head..... I love the story it tells

Come Dancing

They put a parking lot on a piece of land
When the supermarket used to stand.
Before that they put up a bowling alley
On the site that used to be the local palais.
That's where the big bands used to come and play.
My sister went there on a Saturday.

Come dancing,
All her boyfriends used to come and call.
Why not come dancing, its only natural?

Another Saturday, another date.
She would be ready but she'd always make them wait.
In the hallway, in anticipation,
He didn't know the night would end up in frustration.
He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week
All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek.

Come dancing,
That's how they did it when I was just a kid,
And when they said come dancing,
My sister always did.

My sister should have come in a midnight,
And my mum would always sit up and wait.
It always ended up in a big row
When my sister used to get home late.

Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight,
Two silhouettes saying goodnight by the garden gate.

The day they knocked down the palais
My sister stood and cried.
The day they knocked down the palais
Part of my childhood died, just died.

Now I'm grown up and playing in a band,
And there's a car park where the palais used to stand.
My sister's married and she lives on an estate.
Her daughters go out, now its her turn to wait.
She knows they get away with things she never could,
But if I asked her I wonder if she would,

Come dancing,
Come on sister, have yourself a ball.
Don't be afraid to come dancing,
Its only natural.

Come dancing,
Just like the palais on a Saturday.
And all her friends will come dancing
Where the big bands used to play.

okay, okay.. it's really easy to tickle me, yes

The Winner ~~ Bobby Bare

The hulk of a man with a beer in his hand he looked like a drunk old fool
And I knew if I hit him right why I could knock him off of that stool
But everybody they said watch out hey that's the Tiger Man McCool
He's had the whole lotta fights and he's always come out winner yeah he's a winner
But I had myself about five too many and I walked up tall and proud
I faced his back and I faced the fact that he had never stooped or bowed
I said Tiger Man you're a pussycat and a hush fell on the crowd
I said let's you and me go outside and see who's the winner
Well he gripped the bar with one big hairy hand then he braced against the wall
He slowly looked up from his beer my God that man was tall
He said boy I see you're a scrapper so just before you fall
I'm gonna tell you just a little bout what it means to be a winner
He said now you see these bright white smilin' teeth you know they ain't my own
Mine rolled away like Chicklets down the street in San Antone
But I left that person cursin' nursin' seven broken bones
And he only broke ah three of mine that makes me the winner
He said now behind this grin I got a steel pin that holds my jaw in place
A trophy of my most successful motorcycle race
And each morning when I wake and touch this scar across my face
It reminds me of all I got by bein' a winner
Now this broken back was the dyin' act of a handsome Harry Clay
That sticky Cincinnati night I stole his wife away
But that woman she gets uglier and she gets meaner every day
But I got her boy that's what makes me a winner
He said you gotta speak loud when you challenge me son cause it's hard for me to hear
With this twisted neck and these migraine pains and this big ole cauliflower ear
And if it wadn't for this glass eye of mine why I'd shed a happy tear
To think of all that you gonna get by bein' a winner
I got arthritic elbows boy I got dislocated knees
From pickin' fights with thunderstorms and chargin' into trees
And my nose been broke so often I might lose if I sneeze
And son you say you still wanna be a winner
Now you remind me a lotta my younger days with your knuckles a clenchin' white
But boy I'm gonna sit right here and sip this beer all night
And if there's somethin' that you gotta gain to prove by winnin' some silly fight
Well okay I quit I lose you're the winner
So I stumbled from that barroom not so tall and not so proud
And behind me I still hear the hoots of laughter of the crowd
But my eyes still see and my nose still works and my teeth're still in my mouth
And you know I guess that makes me the winner
